Nochlezhka is a Russian NGO helping homeless people in Saint Petersburg and Moscow. My friendship with Nochlezhka began in 2016 almost immediately after moving to St. Petersburg. For 5 years I have been a volunteer in various projects of the organization. This includes volunteering at the clothes distribution point, and distributing food on the Night Bus, and attracting a cafe to the Express Help charity event, and simply helping in various Nochlezhka events.

All photos are taken by me as an activist, not a photojournalist. And here an interesting field for reflection opens up: in the modern world, can a documentary photographer be a non-activist? Where is the line between activism and photojournalism?
